Welcome to High Societea House!
We are a tea room, where one can go back in time and enjoy the lost art of conversation, while enjoying the perfect pot of tea! We have strived over the years to create a unique experience.
The teahouse is located at 20 Old Newark Pompton Turnpike, which is in the historic section of the Township of Wayne. This house is listed with the Wayne Historical Society as the first official post office, which at the time was the
Ryerson – De Mott General Store, dating back to 1895. Over the years we have had customers come in and tell us stories of life as it was back then.
Since we are a small tea room, with only have a limited amount of tables, we encourage reservations to insure there will be a table ready for you when you arrive.
Each guest is served their own pot of tea in a lovely hand made cozy. This allows the last cup of tea to taste as delicious as the first cup. We offer over forty different types of tea; Black, Green, White, Rooibus, and Herbal. With each season we also showcase “limited” teas to our guests.
Our food menu is somewhat limited, as compared to a restaurant. We offer the following items:
Our signature caramel and assorted fruit scones
Freshly made lemon curd and clotted cream
Seasonal homemade soups
Assortment of salads with freshly made dressings
Various quiches vegetable and meat filled
Assorted finger sandwiches and miniature sweets
Seasonal tea breads and muffins
Everything is prepared fresh in our kitchen. We use local grown farm fresh produce and organic products when available. With today’s new health concerns we carry a gluten free menu for our guests.
Your meal is served in a leisurely fashion and it is prepared to be as pleasing to the palette as it is to the eye. We use fresh seasonal flowers to decorate our dishes.
We do have a gift shop, in which there is an assortment of tea related items such as various tea accoutrements, tea pots, cup sets, mugs, personal items like our signature shea butters and scrubs along with a collection of unusual gifts for the special people in your life. If you are unable to decide on that perfect gift, we have gift cards in any denomination that can be purchased over the telephone and mailed for your convenience. Our gift certificates do not expire and can be used in the tea room or in our gift shop. Our teas are also for sale, ranging from $6.95 to $8.95 for 2 oz. bags. This year we are concentrating on selling our scone mix, salad dressing, soups, quiches and baked items. We accept VISA, MASTER CARD & DISCOVER.
Much of success is due to our wonderful customers to whom we are truly grateful. We look forward to serving you the perfect pot of tea!
