COME FOR TEA AND STAY AWHILE!
Wayne, New Jersey – It appears that High SocieTea House is fast becoming the place to be, not only for a quiet moment enjoying tea, but also for sampling fresh and creative foods in Northern New Jersey.
Conceived out of a lifelong love of tea and tea things, High SocieTea’s décor and menu – featuring traditional tea fare with a
nouvelle twist – beckon one to pause, enjoy and linger. The shop
features more than 25 fine loose-leaf teas, tea ware and
accessories, books, jewelry and tea-themed gifts in addition to a selective meal service. The proprietors, Barbara Healey, Colleen Henderson and Bernadette Solari, trained at Magnolia & Ivy, the tea industry's pre-eminent tea education source in the United States. Tea education classes, events and cultural themed-teas are planned and
High SocieTea is available for special occasions by prior arrangement.
"In Britain, tea is a meal as well as a beverage," we at High SocieTea would like to bring that concept here. To "take tea" is to take time out of one's busy routine over a lovely tray of freshly prepared morsels and a pot of one's favorite tea, is best when enjoyed with friends.
High SocieTea House has already received inquiries from as far north as Sparta and as far West as Pennsylvania. High Tea consists of being served a four cup pot of tea, two scones, a caramel, which is the signature scone along with the chefs choice. Next you will be served an assortment of sweet and savory treats. To finish your experience you will be served a dessert course. In addition to the High Tea, during the warmer months soup / salad combination specials will be offered.
Located at 20 Old Newark Pompton Turnpike in historic Wayne, the former Tolehouse, 2 miles north of the Willowbrook Shopping Center. Take Route 23 to the Newark Pompton Turnpike exit and make the first right onto Old Newark Pompton Tpk. Hours of operation are Thursday 4:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., with the last seating at 6 p.m.
